Generally abundant water resources in Southwest Georgia fuel the region’s economy, provide water for homes and businesses, and enhance recreational opportunities and residents’ quality of life. However, these resources are not unlimited. Thoughtful management and use of best practices can ensure the region’s waters continue to provide these benefits now and in the future.
A program was held on September 27, 2022 to explore the distinctive features of the region’s water resources, learn more about their use, and hear about the FACETS research on their management. The program reached leaders across the region including agricultural producers; civic leaders; elected officials; and Extension agents.
The program was sponsored by the Georgia Water Planning and Policy Center at Albany State University, UGA Cooperative Extension, and UGA’s Stripling Irrigation Research Park with support from the FACETS project.
